Our signature, luxury matchbox brings a bit of glamour and style to the mantlepiece. As well as being beautiful on the outside they look pretty good inside too. Slide down the cover and open the inner tray to find 125 extra long match sticks (13cm!). As well as being extra long our matches have also been made thicker than others on the market to help guard again breakages, making them even safer to use.
Printed on our luxury board with debossing and gold foil details these designs have been inspired by the collection of vintage astrological & astronomical illustrations by Sydney Hall (fl.1818-1860). When we stumbled across these glorious and accurate drawings we found it hard to believe they were drawn in the 1800s and equally hard to choose which ones to recreate! However we couldn’t resist allowing this fabulous unicorn design into our range. The designs were origonally created as star charts, with holes cut where you see the gold dots and stars on our designs, when you held them up, light would shine through these holes, creating the pattern of the contselation in the sky. They were used to teach people to identify the constellations by comparing the night sku to these star guides! When you have finished with our matchbox why not remove the cover and make small holes where you see the gold detailing, you will then have created a little contsellation guide of your own! Or we like to frame ours as little artworks of their own!
